I hand wrapped these rich batik fabrics around cotton line, which I then hand coiled and machine quilted to make it sturdy. I used the raw edge technique with some fray. I added a lovely burnt orange batik fabric to the base for a nice contrast. Both of these lovely batik fabrics are 100% cotton and both show on the inside of the basket too. I just love these colorful batik fabrics with the rich highlights! Color placement will vary. The pattern created is so unique! These lovely batik fabrics were hand made in Indonesia, using wax resist patterns, which is very labor intensive. The results are gorgeous!
